The purpose of the information being presented in these training segments is to provide you, the driver of a special purpose bus, with the knowledge to enhance your ability to transport students, and other passengers, in the safest manner possible.

This class fulfills the requirement under IC 20-27-8-10 for all new or uncertified school bus drivers for preservice school bus driver safety experience and education requirements. This course will familiarize the driver with the laws, regulations, and best practices that are part of facilitating the safe transportation of Indiana school bus students and passengers. Subject areas covered in this training include the requirements for driver licensing and certification; all laws relevant to school bus driving, and school transportation in general; railroad crossings; pre-trip inspections; student management; safe bus stop practices and procedures; and emergency preparedness on the school bus. The total course length is 9 hours, not including the time needed to pass all segment quizzes.
