This course was developed to assist school nurses in their preparedness for possible health emergencies. Consisting of 8 video presentations, as well as multiple handouts, this course covers the topics of the school nurse role in emergency care, legal issues in nursing, assessment and triage, response and crisis management, as well as emergency care for medical, abdominal, genitourinary, head, dental, and mental health conditions. The participant must receive a score of 22/24 or better on the comprehensive quiz in order to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion. This course is part one of a two-part series. Part one is this online course, and part two is an in-person live skills training day that is offered at various times throughout the school year. Participants who pass this online course will be given first notice to register for the live skills training day.
